Playing Perspectives: A game design workshop for perspective taking
Jasper van Vught, Robin Bos, Luce Claessens & Aengus Schulte
With academic freedom as a matter of concern, it is imperative that our classrooms remain places where everyone feels free and safe to exchange perspectives. To avoid polarisation and misunderstanding in such exchanges, we need creative working methods for open dialogue.
This workshop will introduce one such working method: game design! By collectively creating a board game about a polarising topic, you are stimulated to explore diverse perspectives and give their interrelationships a place in a balanced game environment. We will work on developing a set of game characters, each with their own perspective. Ans who knows, they might have more in common than you think!
